ABSTRACT: The isolation of steroid compounds from bark of Aegle marmelos (L.) Correa has been carried out by methanol solvent using maceration technique. The crude extract formed was extracted partition by n-hexane-water (1:1). The extract of n-hexane yielded was put into column chromatography by using silica gel 60 G (Art Merck 107734) 30-70 mesh. It was eluted with n-hexane-ethyl acetate with comparison (7:3, v/v). n-hexane-ethyl acetate (7:3) fraction yielded crystal. The crystal resulted form white needle amount 18 mg with m.p 170-171oC. Crystal was analyzed with the infrared and NMR-1H spectroscopy. The result of analysis shown that the compound was assumed to be steroid and the basis of comparison of its spectrum with literature data the compound was stigmasterol.
